Sicky...

Hey my little man.  You are sick this week--no fun at all. Makes you snuggly and soft though--you just repeat all day, 'Huggle' (snuggle), and 'Daddy, home?'  I'm glad you slept good last night and I hope you take a long nap this afternoon.  I've cleared my day and all we are doing today is watching TV and 'Huggle-'ing.  Sure love you, sweet boy!

One Year

This week, little man, this week marks ONE YEAR since your accident. Holy Moly. You have come so far in one year, it's amazing.  I keep talking about your accident, but this time of year just makes me think about it. I'm so glad you came to our family and STAYED!  I look back on those pictures and wow...what a ride!

We went camping this weekend. You were a pill at night.  Cold, tired, busy.  It was a long night.  The second night we slept in the house--much, much better! :)  And, despite the long first night, we still had a great time. You were very fun, and LOVED having the freedom to toddle around wherever you please. It was great fun to watch you! :)
We went to visit an Indian and get an Indian name. You got the name of Weasel. How fitting!! Fun loving, crazy, spunky, and happy.  That's you, my little boy.  Sure love you!

A little update...

Hey Luke!! You are NUTS!!  I remember that Katelyn was like you--but I think you are nuts!! You climb on everything. You run everywhere. You hate the be buckled. You throw food. You whack Josh. You want to be a big kid and play with the big kids. You ride a trike. You can ride a scooter. You pick veggies out of the garden.  You scream like a girl...a lot.

But you know what else--? You are the snuggliest baby we've had yet. You are the most beautiful--the most handsome.  You are so sweet. You smile all the time. You love everybody. You are a momma's boy, and that is pretty fun.  You talk now.  You say please and thank you.  You say 'Cheese' for the camera.  You sleep really well.  You love to laugh.
It's been a year since your accident at IKEA.  A whole year!! And I wouldn't trade your wildness for all the mildness in the whole world!! It's actually a tender mercy--there is ZERO worry that you will have any lasting effects from your accident. You are so crazy, so wild, so active that I don't worry for a second about you being okay--I just worry about keeping you alive!!

I love you Luke. I thank Heavenly Father everyday for you!

Tenacity

Dear Luke:
You are sick again these days.  It makes you sad and clingy and full of a runny nose unlike I've ever seen!  I wish you would snuggle--we could sit in the rocking chair and read books or nap or watch shows and snuggle, but you like to be on the move, even sick! You are one active little boy--and so brave!  Yesterday at play group you were climbing up on everything, rocking back and forth, shaking things.  No fear in you, my little man.  I love it. I love you ambition. I love you curiosity. I love your tenacity.  I think it's going to help you to stay strong and determined and good. I think it's going to help you achieve goals and be successful.  You are so close to walking, and I'm pretty sure you are going to make it by your first year!  You are my little mover and groover, and I love that about you.

Staying home from Church...

Dear Luke:
We stayed home from Church yesterday, just you and I.  Church is crazy nuts with you these days--and we almost a year away from nursery! Some days I'm not sure we are going to make it...!  Yesterday, though, you just weren't yourself. Wild. Crazy. Nuts.  But also sad, clingy, tired.  So, after Sacrament meeting you and I came home.
I worry about you.  More then I worried about Katelyn or Josh.  I think it's because of all your crazy head trauma and Primary Childrens Adventures, but all the same, when I can't figure out what is going on with you I worry.  I'm hoping it's teeth--but it might also be an ear ache or strep...the whole rest of the family has got it.
You slept really well last night, and this morning you woke up happy and at a good breakfast. It did good for my heart!  You're taking a nap now, and I'm going to let you sleep as long as you will! Here's to hoping it's up and out from here!
